Northview High School
Biography:
A proud Northview graduate from the Class of 2004, Coach Julia (Dempster) Koralewski was a standout three-sport varsity athlete in soccer, basketball, and track and field. During her high school career, she helped lead the basketball team to the OHSAA Tournament her senior year and competed at the OHSAA State Track Meet all four years in the 300-meter hurdles, holding school records in both the 300H and 4x200 relay.
Julia continued her athletic career at Miami University on a track and field scholarship, specializing in the 400-meter hurdles, where she placed 8th at the MAC Championship meet as a senior. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a minor in Coaching, and later earned her Master’s in Coaching Education from Ohio University in 2016.
In 2009, Julia returned to her alma mater to join the Northview Track & Field coaching staff, where she has specialized in hurdles and high jump. In 2021, she took over as Head Coach for the girls’ team, focusing on the jumping events—confident that her former athlete, Coach Adam Downing, had hurdles well covered. Her leadership and impact were recognized in 2013 when she was inducted into Sylvania’s Athletic Hall of Fame. In addition to track, Julia also coached soccer at Northview until 2019.
Currently, she serves as an art teacher at Sylvan Elementary School, where she continues to inspire young learners through creativity and discipline — values that carry into her coaching philosophy.
Coach Koralewski believes in teaching and fostering the development of the whole person through rigorous training within a supportive and competitive team environment. She emphasizes positive attitudes, focus, and unmatched effort over the pursuit of wins, trusting that when athletes commit to the journey and their performance, the results will take care of themselves.
Biography:
With over 38 years of coaching experience, Doug Downing has dedicated his career to developing athletes at the highest levels. He spent 26 years coaching at the Division I collegiate level before transitioning to 12 years at the high school level, where he has continued to shape athletes into top performers. Over the years, he has coached more than a dozen professional athletes across USA Track & Field and the NFL.
Coach Downing believes that “Track & Field carries the most carryover to all other sports and is a key factor in the development and advancement of high school athletes.”
A standout athlete himself, Doug was named a 1st Team Parade All-American and a two-time 1st Team All-State Quarterback in Indiana before becoming the starting quarterback at Purdue University for two seasons. A career-ending injury shifted his path from playing to coaching, where he discovered his true calling. His impact on the game was recognized in 2024 when he was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as both a player and coach.
At Northview High School, Coach Downing has served as Head Track Coach for six years, leading the boys’ team to an NLL Conference Championship in just his second season. He also spent eight seasons as Head Football Coach, where he revitalized the program, guiding the team to postseason playoff appearances—including the first playoff win in school history.

Sprints/Relays
Biography:
With 20 years of coaching experience at Northview High School, Coach Dominique Roberts has dedicated his career to developing student-athletes and helping them reach their highest potential. Since joining Northview in 2006, he has guided numerous track athletes to state finals and national-level competition, specializing in sprints with a particular expertise in the 400m.
A multi-sport athlete himself, Dominique excelled in both football and track during high school before continuing his track career at the University of Toledo. There, he earned his B.S. in Biology, combining his passion for athletics with a deep understanding of science and performance.
For over 26 years, Dominique has been a Nationally Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, specializing in weightlifting, cardio, sports performance, nutrition, flexibility, and assessment. Beyond training athletes, he has also taught national personal fitness trainer certification courses for more than a decade at institutions such as Owens Community College, Monroe County Community College, Kent State University, and Ohio State University.
Outside of coaching, Dominique applies his scientific expertise as a lab technician in the medical field, further demonstrating his commitment to precision, discipline, and continuous learning.
Coach Roberts lives by the belief that: “All things are possible to those who believe, are willing to work for it, and do the right things.” His mission is to help athletes not only succeed in sport, but also realize the strength, discipline, and confidence that will carry them through every aspect of life.

Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
Biography:
Coach Adam is entering his fifth year as a high school track and field coach, specializing in boys sprints, boys and girls hurdles, and boys relay teams. With a strong background as both an athlete and coach, he brings a high level of experience, discipline, and enthusiasm to the program.
A 2014 graduate of Sylvania Northview High School, Coach Adam was a standout hurdler and held the school record in the 300-meter hurdles for five years. In a full-circle moment, he coached the athlete who broke his own record during his very first year of coaching—an experience that helped solidify his passion for developing the next generation of Northview track athletes.
From 2014 to 2018, Coach Adam competed at the NCAA Division I level for the University of Akron, specializing in the 400-meter hurdles. He was a consistent contributor to the team and earned a 7th-place finish at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship meet. He also ranked 125th in the NCAA Division I East Region, competing among the top hurdlers in one of the most competitive fields in the country. During his time at Akron, Coach Adam also earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, further strengthening his understanding of athletic performance, biomechanics, and injury prevention. His time as a student-athlete helped shape his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes technical mastery, mental toughness, and a team-first mentality.
As a coach, he is committed to developing well-rounded athletes and has a proven track record of success. Over the past five years, Coach Adam has helped guide numerous athletes to the collegiate level—including NCAA Division I, II, and III programs. His coaching has led to significant individual improvements, broken school records, and postseason achievements at the league, district, regional, and state levels.
Coach Adam is passionate about building a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture. He prides himself on mentoring athletes not only to reach their potential on the track but also to grow as confident, focused, and resilient individuals off of it.
Amanda Manthey.
Distance Coach
Biography:
Amanda Manthey started her coaching career at Northview High School during the 2024-2025
season as the assistant coach for Girls XC and girls distance Track and Field coach. Amanda graduated high school in 1997 from Cincinnati Colerain, where she competed at the OHSAA Division I state level 7x in her HS career in XC/T&F. She was on a Division I State Runner-Up XC team in 1996 and finished 3rd in the 4x800 Division I OHSAA track and field
championship team in 1997. Amanda was inducted into her high school Athletic Hall of Fame in
2015. She continued her collegiate running at Eastern Michigan University from 1997-2000 and
then graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. She has worked at
ProMedica Eidi Family Rehabilitation Center part time for 23+ years as an occupational
therapist and is a certified brain injury specialist. Amanda’s passion and goals as a coach is to
build a successful women’s running program at NV and win championships for the Northview
community. She resides in Sylvania with her husband Carson and three children – Cameron (’25), Tate (’28) and Cora
(’31).
Biography:
Coach Esbin is entering his fourth season with the cross country program and second season as Head Coach. Under his guidance, the Distance Cats have qualified an athlete to the State meet for the first time in over in a decade in both cross country and track. At the time of his graduation in 2008, Nick was the school record holder in the 5k for cross county, becoming the first athlete to break the 16:00 minute barrier in school history. He was also a member of the school record 4x800 relay team.
Nick is a graduate of Sylvania Northview High School and Bowling Green State University.
Nick and his wife Ashley reside in Sylvania with their two daughters, Noelle and Parker.
